In search of a town planning advisor for the HRA

The Hermanus Ratepayers Association (HRA) needs the services of a motivated and socially committed person who has knowledge of Town Planning to join its Executive Committee (Exco). The HRA is considered an Interested and Affected Party and is routinely asked to comment on applications in our area of operation. The HRA is a community based organisation that represents and fosters the interests of ratepayers and residents in Hermanus in their engagement with the municipality.

This is an important portfolio which involves the evaluation of town planning applications made to the municipality. Applications are considered on the basis of compliance with planning by-laws as well as whether or not they comply with spatial planning, aesthetic and heritage considerations which affect the community.

This is a role for a person who may be a retired town planner or architect who cares about preserving the character and sense of place of Hermanus and is prepared to offer their services for a few hours a week.

Our meetings and engagements with one another are friendly and congenial and based on mutual respect. We don’t restrict our interactions to meetings only and are in contact on an informal and ongoing basis. Although we often deal with serious matters we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Exco meetings take place on a monthly basis and usually take about 2 hours.

If you are interested in making a contribution towards maintaining the character of Hermanus, please call Brian Wridgway on 076 941 8065.
